Privacy
Updated October 23, 2026
There are no accounts, no ads and no third-party tracking. We record swipes under a random ID, not under your name, and you can delete them at any time.
In your browser
Your likes, passes and list, the games you picked on Games like, your sound setting and which tips you've seen are saved in this browser's local storage. They stay on this device.
On our server
On your first visit we set a cookie holding a random ID. It isn't linked to your name, email address or any account, and it lasts a year. Under that ID we store:
- each game you liked or passed, undid, or removed from your list;
- how far you scrolled into each game, how long you looked at it, and why it was in your deck;
- the games you entered on Games like;
- whether you're on a phone or a computer (we don't keep the rest of your browser details);
- when you first and last visited.
We use this to improve recommendations and to count which demos people like most. It's deleted automatically 365 days after your last visit.
If you're in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we don't set this cookie and don't record your swipes at all. Everything still works the same; your likes stay in your browser.
To stop any one visitor from overloading the site, we count requests per IP address. We store only a one-way hash of the address, for 2 days, never the address itself. Our hosting provider may keep standard request logs for a short time.
Only if you sign up. Your address goes to our mailing list provider, Mailchimp, which emails you to confirm, and we keep a backup copy in our own database. We use it only to send updates from
, and every email has an unsubscribe link. Your address isn't linked to your swipes. To have it deleted entirely, email us (address below).
Services we use
- Vercel hosts the site.
- Upstash hosts the database that holds the swipe records above and the backup of the email list.
- TypeSafe, through Vercel's AI Gateway, receives the names and descriptions of games you liked and passed so it can help pick your next games. It doesn't receive your ID or IP address.
- Google (Gemini API) receives the public Steam description and images of games you enter on Games like that aren't in the fest, to find similar demos. Nothing about you is sent.
- Mailchimp holds the email list, if you sign up.
- Steam: game images and videos load straight from Valve's servers, so Valve sees your IP address as it would on any page showing Steam media. Searches on Games like are passed to Steam's store search. Links to Steam are covered by Valve's privacy policy.
We don't sell or share your data with anyone else. The random ID cookie is our only cookie: it exists for the swipe records described above, not for advertising, and we don't use third-party analytics.
Delete your data
This deletes your swipe records from our server, takes your likes out of the shared counts, clears what's saved in this browser and gives you a new ID. It doesn't unsubscribe you from email; use the link in any email for that.
Children
Wisp isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Security
We keep the data above to a minimum and protect it with the access controls of the services that host it, but no way of sending or storing data over the internet is completely secure.
Other sites
Wisp links to Steam and to developers' sites, which we don't run. Their own privacy policies apply there.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
